Alternative to “Design, Build, Defend”

Traditional engineering would often left the public out of the design process until the very end. This method of “designing, building, and defending” lead to a near cancellation of a grade-separated intersection on State Highway 6 near Houston. Mike Heath, President of Alliance Transportation Group, explains an alternative process that allowed the public to create their own performance metrics and lead to a project which the community felt enrolled in.
