- Scope of Project
- Significant Impacts from Katrina
- Major Impacts to Traffic
Summary
- Coordinated effort with City and MDOT accomplished implementation of many of the Access Management recommendations
- Improved pedestrian access with 5 ft sidewalks and boardwalk reconstruction added significant recreational/community value
- While currently development is slowed, eventual redevelopment will not have such an adverse effect as the hundreds of commercial driveways that existed pre-storm. (2008 traffic 35,000 vpd)
- Coordinated signals have had a positive effect on commuting traffic
- Mast arm signals more durable in high wind events and reconstruction is to higher standards
