  • Scope of Project
  • Significant Impacts from Katrina
  • Major Impacts to Traffic

Summary

  • Coordinated effort with City and MDOT accomplished implementation of many of the Access Management recommendations
  • Improved pedestrian access with 5 ft sidewalks and boardwalk reconstruction added significant recreational/community value
  • While currently development is slowed, eventual redevelopment will not have such an adverse effect as the hundreds of commercial driveways that existed pre-storm. (2008 traffic – 35,000 vpd)
  • Coordinated signals have had a positive effect on commuting traffic
  • Mast arm signals more durable in high wind events and reconstruction is to higher standards
