  • DATA ANALYSIS
  • STATISTICAL TESTS
  • RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS

OBJECTIVES

  1. To conduct a thorough literature review to study the existing methods of computing access density
  2. To apply different computational methods of access density and studying their differences
  3. To develop a weighted methodology and studying its performance
  4. To make recommendations regarding the most suited methodology

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

  • There are various methods of computing access density in previous studies and a standard methodology could be defined.
  • All 3 components should be considered
    1. Both direction driveways
    2. Type of intersection’s (signalized + un-signalized)
    3. Type of median opening’s
  • Weighted methodology should be preferred to obtain access density which shows improved correlation to crash rate
  • Weighted methodology 2 is recommended as it eliminates the drawbacks of weighted methodology 1 and adds flexibility in application to all possible access types.
