Research Subcommittee Scope

The Access Management Research Subcommittee will continually strive to advance the state-of-the-practice and state-of-knowledge related to access management through the completion and dissemination of access management planning, policy, and design research.

Research Subcommittee AHB70(2) 

  • Identify research needs and develop research statements for NCHRP and other funding sources; 
  • Peer review of access management research papers; 
  • Coordinate sessions at the TRB Annual Meeting; 
  • Issue calls for papers; and, 
  • Disseminate research findings and identify opportunities for joint paper sessions 

Roles/Responsibilities

Access Management Research Subcommittee member roles and responsibilities include:

  • Peer-review access management research papers and nominate practice ready papers
  • Coordinate session at the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting
  • Assist in the development of research statements for National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) solicitations
  • Assist in the development of general research problem statements
  • Help in the identification of gaps in access management research
  • Share knowledge and research related to access management from local area
  • Act as an advocate for access management research

Subcommittee Positions

  • Subcommittee Chair (Stuart Samberg)
    • coordinates problem statements and Research Needs Statements (RNS) database, annual meeting paper review and program, and organizes co-chairs (Grant Schultz)
  • Subcommittee Secretary
    • organization, records information, helps to maintain RNS database (Stuart Samberg)
  • State Research Contact Liaison – helps to keep curretn DOT Research Engineering database (Reza Jafari)
  • SCOR Liaison – helps to keep current SCOR database and works with committee members to help lobby for votes (currently vacant)
  • TRB Goals/Objectives Liaison – helps to maintain a listing of current TRB goals to ensure research is meeting current goals (Alan Ginder)
